3 Style Hacks for Dirty Hair

Easy + Quick Ideas When You're in Between Washes

Article by Bria Jones

When it comes to washing my hair, I am a once a week kind of gal! Sometimes longer if I’m really just not feeling the marathon of wash day. That being said, I have definitely pushed the limit going much longer than I should and I can bet you've done the same—especially if you’re reading this!

Here are a few of my favorite dirty hairstyle hacks! These are my go-to styles that are quick and easy after maybe a hard work out with a good sweat, or just old hair that is ready for a shampoo. This video will give you a visual of the styles. Additionally, I have listed below what I call these styles and how to do them!

    1. Padded, Knotted, Chunky Headband

In case you missed it, chunky headbands have emerged into the fashion world and are taking over! While many adore it because the iconic Blair Waldorf made padded and knotted headbands cool first, I personally love that it is an easy, quick way to level up my hair game when I’m out of ideas and my hair is too dirty.

Simply grab your favorite chunky headband, spray a little dry shampoo if needed, and place it how you see fit!

    2. The Ariana Grande

Ariana made the half-up, half-down ponytail an iconic style. This style makes it easy to sleek back the hair when it’s at the end of its journey and makes you look like you put a whole lot of effort into your morning routine.

For this style, pull half of your hair back into a high ponytail leaving a piece of hair out in the front. Spray dry shampoo as needed or texturizing spray.

    3. The Side-Swept Pony

The side-swept ponytail is a foolproof way to look like the classiest one in the room when you’re also the greasiest (lol, but no one will ever know). All you need for this one is a hair tie, a couple of bobby pins, and a brush.

I like to deep part the hair on one side and smooth everything down with a brush. Curly girls may need gel or edge control to tame hair. Put your hair into a low ponytail leaving a piece down in the front. Once you tie the hair up, take the piece in the front and swoop it to make it look like a side bang, then secure it with bobby pins.
