2019 Lake Murray Holiday Gift Guide

Local Shops With Popular Present and Service Options

Hankering for a different way to wrap holiday gifts this year? Consider yarn as a handy wrapping aid. Yarn is known as a great way to secure gifts, but more importantly, it can become a gorgeous, homespun accent against unassuming paper. First, wrap presents in brown parcel, white butcher paper or a solid color paper. Then wrap yarn around the present multiple times to create a Christmas tree (green yarn wound lengthwise and tied off at one end with red yarn to mimic an ornament) or to spin a personalized design at the top or bottom of the gift. Get really creative and create a tartan plaid design out of select color yarns.

A second gift wrapping option is to place multicolored yarn on packages and then top them off by affixing or gluing on tree clippings, pine cones and other pieces of fresh greenery.

Tie candy canes, tiny ornaments or sprigs of rosemary or pepperberry onto yarn as another way to brighten packages.

For those good at making yarn pom-poms, those add another dimension to the excitement of unwrapping gifts.

If time is of the essence, gift wrapping services also are available in Lexington at Postal Express, 955 E. Main St. Call 803.957.2342 to discuss wrapping options or to get a free quote.

Body Chek Sports Essentials

A South Carolina mother-daughter team, Christy and Reagan Cox came up with the idea to produce and sell sports-related "Field Kits" because as a player and a coach, they needed everything in one bag. To round out their firsthand knowledge and thinking, they consulted with fellow athletes, coaches and parents about what they deemed essential to get them through hours of practice and long weekend tournaments. The results are fabulous kits sports-loving families can purchase for games, cheerleading and traveling. Kits are filled with essentials such as antibacterial ointment, shaving cream, bug repellents, lip balm, hand warmers, sunscreen, deodorant, tape, hair ties and Biofreeze pads.
