Natural Body Spa celebrated its 30th anniversary this past May. During its anniversary weekend, clients were treated to special discounts and services, gifts and raffle drawings, plus delicious food and champagne.
What started out as a small store in the Morningside area of Atlanta selling natural health and beauty aids, Natural Body now has 11 locations (nine of which are in Atlanta) and over 300 employees. Founded by Cici Coffee, the CEO, the company is known for its high-quality massages, facials, waxing, and other popular spa services. It has managed not only to stay in business for all these years but to thrive as well.
Cici gives a lot of credit for its success to her highly talented and loyal team. The licensed massage therapists, aestheticians, and nail technicians have developed reputations for providing the best in service and have therefore built up a large clientele over the years. She also believes that hiring the right people has helped the company stay on its true path.
“We’ve always been known for hiring the most talented people,” says Cici. “They’re very disciplined and very serious about what they do.”
Besides being knowledgeable about the services they provide, Cici said that their employees are also trained to be active listeners and good communicators in order to promote mutual participation between staff and clients. Plus, she stated, not enough can be said about having overall good manners and basically being polite. These qualities assist in making clients feel safe and comfortable.
Cici also credits her partner and marketing officer, Celia Tully, who came on board in 2000, with a lot of their success. With a Bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion and Exercise Physiology as well as a Master’s in Healthcare Administration, Celia is a great fit for Natural Body.
“Celia is the more focused, grounded, and disciplined partner, while I’m the risk taker and the creative one. We balance each other out,” says Cici.
One of the major changes through the years in how they do business is through the utilization of technology. Specialized software enables them to recognize what’s working and what’s not and make changes in order to meet clients’ needs and wants. It helps to stay relevant and on-trend in order to provide well-rounded client experiences.
Most of their clientele come through word of mouth, as well as from marketing effectively to like-minded people. Being in Atlanta is also a huge plus; the neighborhoods where the centers are located are full of both millennials and baby boomers. So, they’re getting people who are both new to spas and those who are seasoned spa customers.
While Natural Body may continue to expand, Cici said they would have to do it slowly and carefully in order to continue to provide the highest quality services to clients. Right now, the company is focused on where it has the most growth, which is in the pain management realm.
Cici and Celia are also looking to expand their offerings using CBD, like their CBD massage, and their CBD retail products such as soaps, lotions, hair care products, bath salts, and candles. This is something clients have been asking for more and more as CBD becomes more popular throughout the country and its list of benefits continues to grow.
“If you don’t take care of your body, where are you going to live? That’s our tag line,” says Cici.
