While the olive has its origins in Mediterranean cuisine, its distinct flavor is enjoyed worldwide. To celebrate the olive and its numerous varieties, National Olive Day is held each year on June 1st. For local residents, there is no better venue to celebrate the joy this little fruit provides than the outdoor Olive Grove at the Inn at the Mission San Juan Capistrano. We had the pleasure of attending this year’s event, entitled “A Storied Olive” featuring the Inn’s very own private label EVOO, Reverence. Inspired by the 72 Mission olive trees located throughout the property, the Mission olive was a staple for the Spanish Missionaries diet at the neighboring Mission San Juan Capistrano. The Inn at the Mission San Juan Capistrano holds olive oil tasting events, open to the public, on the second Thursday of each month. To learn more, visit innatthemissionsjc.com
