Abernathy Finish Master started as a small company in 1994 with just two employees and a small finishing shop. In the beginning, their focus was on furniture finishing and repair for residential and commercial clients such as resorts, restaurants, and offices. As their work gained notoriety in the public sector, their clients began to ask for their assistance with cabinet refinishing and modifications in their personal homes. Soon they found themselves booked with clients wanting their cabinets redone and today residential and commercial cabinet refinishing and/or resurfacing, modifications, and custom builds make up the bulk of their business. Their portfolio also includes entertainment units, wet bars, desks, bunk beds, murphy beds, custom wall designs, and much more.

With the increase in business, Abernathy could do nothing but expand. Their small shop is now a 10,000 sq. ft. state of the art facility.  It houses spray booths,  prep stations, finishing areas, a custom woodwork shop, a custom color mixing, matching, and toning department, as well as a showroom where professional designers or homeowners can browse examples of colors, finishes, and wood types. They now have 16 employees including four master finishers with 20+ years’ experience each, three master builders with 25+ years’ experience each, four prep techs who sand each item by hand, plus experienced and professional design consultants. Using local vendors, they procure the highest quality of product from primers, lacquers, stains, soft-close hardware, and building materials.

Each job they take is personal and contains three phases. To begin, Abernathy makes an on-site visit to discuss the client’s desires, needs, and expectations. They share their expert experience and knowledge to make valuable suggestions and come up with a customized design. Once the job is understood and choices have been made, an estimate is written up, doors and drawer fronts are pulled and taken back to their shop, a sample of the requested finish is made up, and with approval of the sample, the manual work starts. In Phase two, the onside crew arrives and covers all areas that need protection from over-spray before beginning. Then they prep the surfaces that need to be finished by hand cleaning, sanding, priming and sanding them again. Upon completion of the project in a timely and professional manner, the area will be de-masked to reveal your beautiful new space. The final phase consists of an inspection and quality check by the department head to ensure your satisfaction.

For over 23 years, Abernathy Finish Master has prided themselves on age old traditions, techniques, and craftsmanship to make their clients’ complete satisfaction their number one priority. So whether you want to bring new life to your current finishes, use your existing cabinets as the foundation for an entirely new look, or design a custom piece to complete a room in your house, they loving bringing visions to life!
