Art in Bloom DC returns for its sixth annual exhibition at Anderson House this spring, from March 19 to March 22, 2026, where we are excited to be an official partner of the National Cherry Blossom Festival. Following in the footsteps of museums in Boston, Minneapolis, and San Francisco, Art in Bloom DC is a prestigious exhibition that celebrates works of art and floral design through the display of flower arrangements interpreting the art and architecture of historic Anderson House. Completed in 1905, Anderson House was the home of American diplomat Larz Anderson and his wife, author and philanthropist Isabel Anderson. This National Historic Landmark has been the headquarters of the Society of the Cincinnati since 1938 and opened its doors as a museum in 1939.
Art in Bloom DC lets visitors walk through the museum at their own pace, viewing interpretations of artwork, furnishings, and architectural details rendered in a floral medium by some of Washington’s most innovative floral designers. The more than 30 exhibitors from the local area include professional florists and representatives of flower guilds and garden clubs—all showcasing their floral prowess. Their inspirations range from Japanese porcelain and Chinese sculpture to 17th-century Italian choir stalls and the Ballroom’s iron-and-marble flying staircase to portraits of Revolutionary War soldiers. This year’s exhibition will open on Thursday, March 19 from 12 to 4 p.m.; on Friday, March 20, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, March 21-22 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Timed tickets cost $22 per person in advance or $28 day of, if available. Our expert museum docents will be on hand to discuss the history of Anderson House, the collections, and the Society of the Cincinnati and its American Revolution Institute. Guests will also have special access to the garden—not normally open to the public. A catered opening night reception on Thursday, March 19, 6-9 p.m., will allow guests to be among the first to see the floral displays, as well as meet the artists who designed them. New for the 2026 event—on Friday, March 20 join us for Date Night at Art in Bloom DC from 6:30-8:30 p.m. for exclusive access to the museum and the floral artworks, along with refreshments and festive fun. Art in Bloom DC will also present three special ticketed floral demonstrations from premiere local designers Laura Dowling, Sarah Campbell, and Sarah Khan. Registration is required for these hour-long demonstrations. Tickets include general admission to the exhibition. Tickets for general admission to the exhibition, as well as the receptions and demonstrations, are available at https://www.americanrevolutioninstitute.org/art-in-bloom-dc/. Anderson House is the exclusive venue for Art in Bloom DC. The event is co-produced by the American Revolution Institute, Margo Fischer of Bright Occasions, and Ashley Greer of Atelier Ashley Flowers.

About Art in Bloom DC
While still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Art in Bloom began in DC when florist Ashley Greer of Atelier Ashley Flowers approached Anderson House with the idea in 2021. It was conceived as a way to celebrate creatives at a time when nothing was else was open in the city. Due to the outdoor spaces at Anderson House, we put together a small reception following the city’s then-Covid guidelines, and along with planner Margo Fischer of Bright Occasions, we staged a successful garden event when the city was ready to get out and celebrate. Since 1976, when the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, hosted the original Art in Bloom exhibition, local florists and garden clubs have created floral arrangements to correspond with museums’ art collections. Art in Bloom DC was founded in 2021 to showcase the immense floral talent of the Washington area while highlighting the exquisite art and architecture of Anderson House.
