The continent of Asia is vast and contains many different cultures and landscapes. It is on the other side of the world from us, a distant and enchanting land of unparalleled beauty and ancient history. If you've been dreaming of visiting Asia but are stuck on your couch, allow these three movies to transport you there instead.

The Darjeeling Limited (2007)

"In director Wes Anderson's The Darjeeling Limited, three estranged American brothers reunite for a meticulously planned, soul-searching train voyage across India one year after the death of their father. Armed with eleven suitcases, a laminated itinerary, a can of pepper spray, a supply of over-the-counter painkillers, and a host of family conflicts ready to erupt, Francis, Peter, and Jack eventually find themselves stranded alone in the middle of the desert—at which point an unexpected new chapter in their journey begins. Featuring a sensational cast, including Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, Jason Schwartzman, and Anjelica Huston, The Darjeeling Limited is a dazzling and hilarious film that takes Anderson’s work to deeper places than ever before."

The Beach (2000)

Leonardo DiCaprio plays a young American tourist in Thailand who stumbles across a mysterious map that leads to a hidden paradise. But he later finds that paradise isn't as perfect as he imagined. While the plot is a bit lackluster, the cinematography is absolutely breathtaking.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000)

"An epic set against the breathtaking landscapes of ancient China, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon combines the exhilarating martial arts choreography by Yuen Wo-Ping (The Matrix) with the sensitivity and classical storytelling of an Ang Lee film. The result is something truly unexpected: romantic, emotionally powerful entertainment."
