The term capsule wardrobe has been a trending topic lately and for the past couple of years, I have tried to narrow my whole wardrobe down to a 20 piece capsule. I am, however, finding it quite difficult.
Capsule wardrobes are a great way to be aware of all the items you have in your closet and ensures that you are wearing every piece to the fullest. I believe this is a huge part of sustainability. To help me reach my goal of 20 pieces, I've found that creating a uniform for myself has helped.
The uniform formula: straight leg jeans, boyfriend jeans, wide leg jeans, a white t-shirt, a white cotton button down and a graphic tee, white sneakers, black boots.
Straight Leg Jeans
An absolute must. You can take these from day to night and they are flattering on body types! My favorite are the Fidelity Happy Daze right now, but the DL1961 Jerry is a close second!
I wear these everyday. I have to say my style has become a fusion of tomboy and boho, and I find mixing laidback boyfriend style jeans with a more feminine top/blouse is a never fail outfit. My go to boyfriends are Fidelity's Day Off.
Wide Leg Jeans
Lastly, the wide leg! Wide leg jeans are so fun for all seasons. Cropped ones for spring and summer and full length for fall and winter are show stopping pieces. Wearing a wide leg jean really ups an outfit's cool factor. For summer try the DL1961 Hepburns, and for fall/winter try the Fidelity Sundays!
These are my go to pieces in my wardrobe and realized I was not gravitating towards anything else in my closet. If you notice there are a few items you tend to gravitate to, make note of what it is and see if you can narrow down a few key pieces that are versatile enough to combine and mix and match.
