Do you shy away from eyeliner on a regular basis because you've never actually taken the time to figure out how to use it? Well, just because you can't do a perfect wing yet, doesn't mean you won't be able to after a little bit of patience. While you have some extra time at home, find a liquid eyeliner to practice with and follow this guide from Ipsy called How to Apply Liquid Eyeliner Like a Makeup Master.
While there are many different types of eyeliner products out there (and our guide here has the lowdown), there are only two main types of liquid eyeliner: felt tip liquid eyeliner and brush tip liquid eyeliner.
Brush tip liquid eyeliners, like EM Cosmetics’ Black Brush Tip liner, have loose, flexible bristles, similar to a paintbrush. For this reason, they can take a bit more practice for beginners to get the hang of, but are excellent for creating thick-to-thin lines and a variety of looks, like soft, subtly-rimmed lash lines or elegant wings.
Felt tip liquid eyeliners, like Morphe’s Felt-Tip Liquid Liner, are stiffer than brush tips, and as such are great for creating thick, intense winged eyeliner looks. Because the tip is solid and not made up of bristles (like a brush tip applicator is), felt tip liquid eyeliners can have a higher color payoff (that is, the pigment will appear darker on your skin) and can be easier for beginners to control, especially if you’re going after a sharp, defined cat-eye look.
