High fashion has made its way to the quaint town of Lake Zurich. For decades, Mr. Tux’s Formal Wear has been known for offering outstanding styling and impeccable service to clients renting a suit or tuxedo for a special occasion. Now, Mr. Tux’s Formal Wear is offering a highly sought-after service which will make anyone feel like a celebrity.
In 2018, proprietor Chad Dershaw and his wife Susanne decided to pull on their fancy shoes and make Mr. Tux’s Formal Wear and the adjoining Volle’s Bridal shop their own personalized runway. “We wanted to get away from our corporate desk jobs and work in a business that focused on a fun and happy time in people’s lives.” Since then, the pair has revamped Volle’s inventory to not only include high-end designer gowns, but to also include custom gowns created by luxury bridal designer Victoria Sdoukos. However, if a client wanted to order a custom suit, their only options were to either order the suit online or travel to a specialized tailor in Chicago. Understanding that these options were not ideal for their fashion-forward clientele, Chad and Susanne decided to incorporate custom and bespoke shirt and suit offerings for men, women, and children at their Mr. Tux’s Formal Wear location.
Custom shirts and suits are created from an existing pattern which is then adjusted to fit a client’s measurements. When clients visit Mr. Tux’s Formal Wear for a custom shirt or suit, they are able to try on up to 99 different sizes of shirts and up to 30 different sizes of suits based on their measurements. Bespoke shirts and suits are a step-up from custom; they are created from scratch. The garments are cut and sewn by hand and are designed to fit only the client and not anyone else who wants to “borrow a suit.”
Once Chad completes a client’s measurements, the real fun begins: clients can select from a vast array of incredible fabrics, collar styles, and colorful buttons, all which will help make their dream shirt or suit become a reality. Fabrics are sourced from around the world, and include European luxury brands like Holland & Sherry and Loro Piana.

In the coming months Mr. Tux’s Formal Wear is expanding their custom and bespoke lines to include casual wear, dress pants, tuxes, sports coats, dress shoes, and golf shorts (complete with special pockets for golf tees).
