What do you love about what you do?

I love how every job is something unique and exciting. I love meeting each client and trying to find out what they love, not what is trendy, but what makes their hearts happy and makes them smile when they walk into their space. I want each space to be individually designed for that family, or that person, and I want it to reflect them.

Tell us a little more about your new office space.

As an interior designer, I have chandeliers, plumbing fixtures, rugs, tile, etc… all coming to me for projects. Plus, I have all my fabric and wallpaper books too, so I was just busting at the seams working out of my home. My sister, Angie Hood, who owns Blooms, Boards & More, was the same way with her catering business. So, we decided to lease office space together. We found someplace we love and thought it would be fun to not only have work areas for each of us in the space, including a big kitchen for her catering business, but also have a store where people can find reasonably priced toys and gifts. We carry a little bit of everything, and it is also very exciting to open a store and actually have my clients be able to come to me for consultations and see what all is available.

What is your favorite thing about this new business venture?

I've been through so many changes in the last couple of years and I feel very blessed that God has given me this opportunity to have a new beginning. It's kind of scary, but it's exciting at the same time. I love being able to do this with someone that I trust so much, like my sister, because I know we both have each other's best interests at heart. It's wonderful to be able to have this time together at this age in our lives.

Do you have a fun project you can share with us?

I did a remodel for Steven and Karen Gay, who own Daniel Field Airport. We found some glass in the hanger that has to be over 100 years old. We had that glass cleaned up, cut, and put into the cabinets in their kitchen. She also had trouble finding pendant light fixtures that she liked. We actually found some in the hangar. We got them cleaned up, painted copper underneath, and hung them over their kitchen island. Now, it's not just that they have a new kitchen remodel, but they have a space that has so much history from their family.
