We all know January is the month of wellness. We set our resolutions, diligently go to the gym after indulging in holiday feasts and we buckle down for the long winter stretch. But then, as February sweeps in, we’re reminded of yet another holiday- one that some feel is created to just sell more Hallmark cards and eat mediocre chocolates but is a celebration of love nonetheless. Valentine’s Day! This year, treat yourself to some new threads and a blowout on the day of love for your valentine, or more importantly, for yourself! We teamed up with Salon Del Rio in Bayport and Thred in Patchogue to show us some new looks for a Valentine’s Day date night. Photography Benny Migs was on site to capture each pose from models Michele Dibartolo and Jessica Peragine.

Hair: A freshly tousled curl will never go out of style. After a quick blow dry, section off the hair and wrap around a large-barrel curling iron or wand, hold for a few seconds and release and spray. Then comb through with fingers to achieve the perfect waves. (Always spray after applying heat and not before to protect the hair!)

Look 1: (Michelle in black polka dot blazer/jeans)

There is nothing sexier than a lace camisole/bodysuit under a blazer. Paired with a comfortable pair of jeans, this look can move seamless from day to night for those who can’t make it home before dinner. Spritz your hair and add that timeless red lip and you’re ready for your 7pm reservation.

Look 2: (Jessica in leopard dress)

Feeling a little spicy on Valentine’s day? What better way to show it off than an animal print! This frock is the perfect mix of sassy and classy combining a leopard print with a smocked neck and a small keyhole detail in front. You don’t have to be Evel Knievel to complete this look with a genuine leather motorcycle jacket but you certainly will turn some heads!

Look 3: (Michelle in white blouse)

If prints and patterns aren’t your thing, we’ve got you covered. This ultra-feminine silk blouse tucked into a flirty, pleated, midi skirt is an understated yet romantic approach to date night. Lightly dusting the tear ducts of your eyes with a shimmer powder helps enhance the ethereal nature of the look.

Look 4: (Jessica in black silk blouse)

You can never go wrong with an all-black outfit. This silk, asymmetrical shirt gives just the right amount of unexpected twist to an otherwise classic silhouette. Your most comfortable jeans have never looked so good. Curious about a new hairstyle? Braid it! Channel your inner Rapunzel and get adventurous with a few small braids in your hair. It helps frame the face and makes for an easy updo.
