A Hotel For All Seasons

Come Gather, Play and Stay in the Twin Cities

Rising 36 stories over the North Loop neighborhood, the new Four Seasons Hotel Minneapolis is much more than a place to lodge for a few nights. It’s a place to meet with friends and business associates, eat chef-prepared meals, work out in its 24-hour fitness center and be pampered at its spa.

With floor to ceiling windows offering magnificent views of the Twin Cities and the nearby Mississippi River, guests and visitors will soak up its luxurious atmosphere as soon as they walk inside. As with all Four Seasons Hotels, a highly enjoyable and personal customer experience is always the focus.

With a team of 300 employees led by General Manager Florian Riedel, there’s never a shortage of attention to detail. Florian, who started his career with the hotel as a busboy in London many years ago, is familiar with all aspects of the brand. Having worked at Four Seasons Hotels across the globe, both Four Seasons Hotel London and Four Seasons Residence Club Aviara to name a few, provided him with insight into many different cultures. Today, his team reflects that diversity.

“We’re really happy that we've been able to find incredible talent here in the Twin Cities and we believe that the diversity of our team is our strength,” he says. “Hospitality is more than a job - it's a fulfilling, rewarding career.”

Florian and his team work hard every day to make the hotel a destination for out-of-town travelers as well as for locals. “It's designed to bring people together,” he says. “There are incredible opportunities for our community and guests to go to have a drink at the bar, go to the spa and eat in our restaurants.” There’s also an office component and residential living space.

With the hotel just a couple of blocks away from the Mississippi River, he also says it creates a vacation destination right here in downtown Minneapolis. “We are incredibly excited to have an opportunity to rejuvenate businesses downtown and really bring people back to see how wonderful it is.”

There are three restaurants on site – the 4th floor outdoor Riva Terrace and the Mara Restaurant & Bar. “With Riva, picture the Italian Riviera on the banks of the Mississippi,” says Florian. “It's an Italian restaurant that embodies everything you can imagine about a Mediterranean lifestyle. The design and the architecture, the fabrics and the colors, the food and the music - it all transforms you to a different world for a little while. And the sunsets up there  - just gorgeous.”

Mara, its main restaurant on the first floor, serves Mediterranean cuisine prepared by award-winning Chef Gavin Kaysen, a Minneapolis native. “Here, we’ve created another place for people to really enjoy each other's company and amazing food in an environment that's so inviting.”

The prooftop pool is a destination in itself. Four Seasons is the only Minneapolis hotel with both indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The outside pool is not only heated, but has a snow melt system that enables it to be used even when the weather turns cooler. There’s also a steam room and dry sauna.

Conveniently located off the pool plaza is its magnificent spa offering pampering from head to toe. “Our spa director has created an incredible concept of using seasonal botanicals found here in Minnesota,” he says.

The secret to Four Seasons success, says Florian, is pretty simple. “It's following the golden rule - we treat others the way we want to be treated. When you really live by it and you have 300 employees who share this belief, it creates a phenomenal environment.”

It’s also an environment that is inclusive and respectful and goes out of its way to anticipate guests’ needs. “A few days ago, a guest asked for a newspaper while in one of our restaurants. We didn't have one, but rather than saying ‘No, I'm sorry, sir, we don't have it,’ the server took it upon himself to run over to Whole Foods, grab a newspaper and deliver it. Afterwards, he shared this with his manager and who then included it in that customer's profile. The next morning when he came down for breakfast, we had his newspaper waiting for him.”

The hotel is also striving to be a good neighbor in the Twin Cities. “We want to be part of this community and we want to participate, so our goal is to contribute 3,500 volunteer hours per year to the community.”

Many amenities are open to both visitors and guests of the hotel. To find out more, go to fourseasons.com/minneapolis.
