Is there anything better than food to lift your spirits and fulfill your belly, err, day?! How about 10 straight days of wildly discounted 2- and 3-course menus from over 200 of Kansas City’s GREATEST culinary creators!

On Tuesday of this week, I had the fortunate opportunity as a member of the media for #KCRW2020 to get a firsthand glimpse and taste of a multitude of participating restaurants, as KC Restaurant Week commences on Friday, January 10. Held at the fabulous and stunning 7th floor Parker at The Fontaine, it was a bit of a who’s who in the Kansas City world of journalists, TV personalities, advertising agency executives, and dedicated food writers like myself to join in spreading the word about the 11th annual Restaurant Week in this deliciously accomplished Midwest market.

I couldn’t wait to get my hands on all the small bites, like Westport’s newest restaurant, @mickeys_kc’s “Cadillac Mac,” made up of creamy mac and cheese layered with smoked burnt ends, pickled jalapeno, and bbq-spiced pork rinds. Just, WOW. The outstanding @distriktbiskuithouse served up a variety of their mouth-watering concoctions, like the Creole French Quarter Biskuits and Gravy; etouffee anyone?! KC’s newest adult playground, @theclubhouseexperience, whipped up oodles of noodles with Angelo’s Cavatelli spicy and rich pasta. And, boozy sponsors @robertmondavi and @bluemoonbrewco provided pours of their longstanding, yummy sips, like our household favorite, the Robert Mondavi Bourbon Barrel aged Cabernet Sauvignon.

Master chefs and distributors were on hand with their talented teams as they cooked up a storm throughout @parkeratthefontaine, reminding us of how our January budgets will be exhausted from the irresistible food and alcohol being ravaged for the next week and a half. @kcrestaurantweek has a free app making it super simple to select from the 218 participating restaurants: add unlimited restaurants to your wish list, mark restaurants as “tasted,” locate quickly on the interactive map, filter by price point, read the full lunch and/or dinner menu at each, and directly make a reservation via primary sponsor @opentable. Read: @kcrestaurantweek could not make it ANY EASIER to navigate your ravenous way throughout Kansas City’s premier dining event of the year!

#KCRW2020 wouldn’t be the incredible event that it is without its annual charitable partners and overwhelming contributions, this year benefitting @thedonboscocenters, which “empowers individuals and families to achieve self-sufficiency and independence through a comprehensive network of services tailored to the needs of Kansas City’s ethnically rich and diverse community.” Over the last decade, KC Restaurant Week has raised nearly $2.6mm for local charities, thanks to the guidance of Visit KC and the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association.

With a wealth of wonderful sponsors, like Robert Mondavi Winery, Sysco Kansas City, Joyal Marketing, Country Club Plaza, Heartland Coca Cola, Kansas City Magazine, and more, #KCRW2020 will simply be BEYOND in the world of flavor explorations, so make your reservations now to get your seat(s) at the table(s)!
