Does fall even count if you don't pick pumpkins, drink cider, eat donuts, ride a wagon, wear a vest/plaid flannel/wide brimmed wool hat, and PICK APPLES!? Don't answer that. JK, the answer is obviously --> no. Now let's talk pickin' apples! A big thanks to @visitkansascityks for hosting the most PERFECT morning at Cider Hill Family Orchard to learn all about this awesome family owned local apple picking destination!
Truth be told, I was feeling quite Insta-ready...until I realized I didn't BYO fruit picker to snag those out of sight top tree apples. But ya know what; it didn't matter! My girls hand-picked the low hanging-fruit #seewhatididthere, we took note of the Apple Crisp recipe from @ciderhillfamilyorchard’s blog, and whipped it up for a family party, and for being the self-proclaimed failure of a baker, I think (and heard) it turned out GREAT!
With a picturesque white and and hunter green trimmed barn fit for private events and a beautiful backdrop, Cider Hill's sprawling 38-acre property was purchased in 2011 by the Shearer family and has been transformed into one of Kansas City’s most sought after seasonal experiences.
With five ponds for fishing, 1,500 apple trees with 18 varieties, 90 cherry trees, a pumpkin patch, hay and train rides, and more homemade bbq, cider donuts, kettle corn, and sweet treats than can be listed out here, Cider Hill's heart (and belly) warming destination is the ultimate memory-making bucket list item, whether you couple up with a significant other, friends, kids, or going it alone.
Pick a peck or perhaps go for the full 40 lb apple bushel—just be sure to add this gorgeous outdoor adventure to your fall KC bucket list! Awesome experience TO THE CORE...#itspunny
