An Easy, Healthy Snack Recipe

Finally, a healthy snack recipe that is easy to make! If you are ready to eat more than processed, snack bars to adhere to your diet, this is the perfect recipe for you. These No-Bake Energy Bites can be modified to be gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan. As a person that has struggled with food intolerances, it's often hard to find delicious snacks that are allergen friendly. Often, producers, take one allergen out and then add another allergen or food intolerant ingredient.

I was ecstatic to see this super easy, healthy, delicious, and allergen-friendly recipe by Trader Joe's on the back of their organic flaxseed meal. I always enjoy finding healthy snack ideas. Being someone that does not enjoy spending hours cooking, this recipe can be made with just six ingredients.

These no-bake energy bites can be made as allergen-friendly as you like. Easily substitute items in this healthy recipe. The ingredient list below are items that can be found at most grocery stores.

No-Bake Energy Bites Recipe

  • 1 Cup Rolled Oats
  • 1/2 Cup Chocolate Chips
  • 1/2 Cup Ground Flaxseed Meal
  • 1/2 Cup Peanut Butter
  • 1/3 Cup Honey or Maple Syrup
  • 1 TSP Vanilla Extract


Allergen Friendly

Easily substitute: Gluten-free oats and vanilla extract, Enjoy Life chocolate chips, Trader Joe's Organic, Gluten-Free Ground Flaxseed Meal, and Sunbutter or Wow Butter for nut allergies. *Please note, I am not a physician and these are suggestions of possible alternatives. Please consult with your physician first.

My ingredients before adding the honey and vanilla extract.

Now, add the honey and vanilla.

"Combine all ingredients together in a bowl; form into 1" balls using hands. Arrange bites on a baking sheet and freeze until set, about one hour. "

TIP: Looking to make your snacks even healthier? Reduce the amount of flaxseed to 1/4 cup and add 1/4 cup of protein powder instead.
