We are so thankful for our service industry workers and know that while their jobs were never easy, they are even more challenging now. And while we might normally run in quickly for our coffee and not think about anything other than where we're going next, we could all benefit from slowing down and being a little more intentional on our cafe visits. Here are some ways to make your barista's day a little bit better, at least for a quick moment!
1. Tip Your Barista
Okay, so we should always be tipping our baristas, even if you just ordered a drip coffee. Tip. Your. Barista. But if you want to make their day or their week a little brighter, and you have the means, consider tipping a little extra. I promise that when you pay it forward, it benefits so much more than just that one person.
2. Know Your Order
Yes, some places have super exciting menus with lots of new things to try. While you're deciding what to order, step to the side of the line so that you do not slow the natural flow of the cafe. Once you know what you're getting, be ready with clear answers to what size you want, what kind of milk, etc.
3. Follow Cafe Guidelines
Whatever the cafe's current safety procedures are, follow them! Maybe that means pausing at the door to read the sign. Maybe it means checking out the website to see if anything is different. Maybe it's running back to your car because you forgot your mask. You'll save your barista a lot of stress if they don't have to make coffee and make sure everyone is following safety precautions.
