+ The Rowdy Nieces and Nephews (kid-friendly!) +

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1/4 cup baking cocoa

  • Dash of salt

  • 1/3 cup hot water

  • 4 cups almond milk

  • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Mini marshmallows and chocolate syrup for garnish

Directions

In a saucepan, combine sugar, salt and cocoa. Add water and bring to a boil, stirring for 2 minutes. Stir in almond milk and heat to desired temperature (don’t boil). Once at desired temperature, remove from heat, add vanilla and whisk until frothy.  Top with toasted marshmallows and chocolate syrup—the more sugar, the better!

Mix it Up! Experiment with these additions to keep your hot chocolate on its toes:

  • Sea salt and whipped cream

  • Crushed peppermint rim

  • White chocolate + pumpkin purée

  • Peanut butter + graham cracker
