We all get to a point where we need to hit the reset button. Sometimes we need to recharge before we can push forward in our very busy lives. For this reason, and so many more, we recommend taking a short-drive getaway to Harpers Ferry, WV. While the drive is less than two hours; the natural beauty that you'll encounter there is endless. Whether you go for a week or a weekend, you will come back recharged.

Harpers Ferry is a great place to relax, unplug, connect with nature and then recharge before heading back to your day-to-day. There are so many wonders to take in that you'll find entertaining, relaxing and fulfilling all at once. There are countless outdoor activities to enjoy while surrounded by naturally beautiful scenery. There is hiking, camping, rafting, sight-seeing, planned tours and opportunities to volunteer for community service projects.

The history of this quaint little town is commemorated through parks and museums. The Harpers Ferry National Historical Park (part of the National Park Service) does a beautiful job preserving this history. The park highlights the history, culture, nature, natural resources, and animals from within and around the community. These parks and museums have something for everybody. There's also a very busy and diverse schedule of events offered by the parks throughout the year which every visitor should check out. There are over 20 miles of scenic hiking trails throughout the parks that encompasses West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland. The trails also cut through the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park. You can schedule an an educational hike accompanied by park staff who will teach you about all the beautiful birds, plants, and other wildlife of Harpers Ferry. Additionally, there are a plethora of volunteer opportunities to keep each area of the parks functional and clean. There is so much to do in order to ensure these parks continue to stand the test of time that the entire family can participate in a volunteer mission.
