We all get to a point where we need to hit the reset button. Sometimes we need to recharge before we can push forward in our very busy lives. For this reason, and so many more, we recommend taking a short-drive getaway to Harpers Ferry, WV. While the drive is less than two hours; the natural beauty that you'll encounter there is endless. Whether you go for a week or a weekend, you will come back recharged.

Harpers Ferry is a great place to relax, unplug, connect with nature and then recharge before heading back to your day-to-day. There are so many wonders to take in that you'll find entertaining, relaxing and fulfilling all at once. There are countless outdoor activities to enjoy while surrounded by naturally beautiful scenery. There is hiking, camping, rafting, sight-seeing, planned tours and opportunities to volunteer for community service projects.

The history of this quaint little town is commemorated through parks and museums. The Harpers Ferry National Historical Park (part of the National Park Service) does a beautiful job preserving this history. The park highlights the history, culture, nature, natural resources, and animals from within and around the community. These parks and museums have something for everybody. There's also a very busy and diverse schedule of events offered by the parks throughout the year which every visitor should check out. There are over 20 miles of scenic hiking trails throughout the parks that encompasses West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland. The trails also cut through the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park. You can schedule an an educational hike accompanied by park staff who will teach you about all the beautiful birds, plants, and other wildlife of Harpers Ferry. Additionally, there are a plethora of volunteer opportunities to keep each area of the parks functional and clean. There is so much to do in order to ensure these parks continue to stand the test of time that the entire family can participate in a volunteer mission.

When planning a getaway, location is everything. This rule applies to the destination as well as where you decide to stay while there. Now that you know a little more about the destination, we’ve found an incredible, private Colonial Estate that is truly a home away from home. This Harpers Ferry gem is big enough for you and a group of friends or family to rent and not fall all over each other. This lovely home has many features inside and out.

You will feel at home from the moment you pull up the long driveway to the second you are greeted by the grand staircase nestled in the center of the foyer. This home away from home is stunning.

The crown molding, traditional/farmhouse decor, and spacious yet cozy living spaces are inspiring. The master bedroom sports a separate sitting room, double closets, double vanities, a corner whirlpool jetted bathtub and separate shower. The possibilities for unplugging and relaxation are endless; whether it is reading a good book in the beautiful sitting room or chatting with a friend over a cup of coffee at the kitchen bar. You can go for an early morning swim or a late-night dip in the indoor pool. There's also plenty of room for game night with the family or a large group of friends upstairs in the loft. If you'd rather watch a movie, you can enjoy your favorite film in the great room with a fire burning in the fireplace. One thing is for sure, you'll want to enjoy all that this gorgeous estate has to offer.

If you prefer the outdoors, you can spend time on the balcony and take in the pristine views. The stylish yet comfortable balcony decor makes for a relaxing place to sip your favorite glass of wine and watch the sunset. Roasting marshmallows over the fire pit and making s'mores on top of the hill in the back of this estate is a must. There is also a deluxe gas grill in the backyard big enough to make a family feast on. The patio is a perfect place to eat your grilled burgers and enjoy an ice cold beer. In the mornings and afternoons, there are over ten acres of a nature trail around the property to enjoy. No matter if you are an indoor or an outdoor person, there is plenty for you to do at this quaint home away from home.

This home away from home sleeps 24 people. There are a total of 6 bedrooms, 15 beds and 7.5 bathrooms. This spacious home was recently updated including new carpet throughout the family room and the gorgeous wood floors are newly updated as well. Chad (the nicest doorman that you'll ever meet) is there to help with anything you need. Its perfect for large families and groups.
