IT'S HALLOWEEN!

Halloween is here, and with it comes the temptation of sweet treats and candy galore. But guess what? There is absolutely no way you can stop me from indulging in my favorite Halloween candies. Yes, you heard that right. I'm a dietitian, and I proudly admit that I love eating dessert. So, if you're like me and can't resist those delicious Reese's, I have a message for you: Just eat the dang Reese's, guys!

Let's get one thing straight – restriction does not work. It might seem like a good idea to avoid certain foods to stay on track with your health and fitness goals, but the reality is quite different. When you restrict yourself from enjoying your favorite treats, it often leads to a host of negative consequences:

  • Never-ending Thoughts: You find yourself constantly thinking about the foods you "cannot have." It's like a never-ending mental battle with temptation.
  • Binging: Eventually, when those forbidden foods are in front of you, it's easy to lose control and overindulge. This can lead to unhealthy binge eating habits.
  • Calorie Deficits: Extreme restriction can result in large calorie deficits, which can wreak havoc on your metabolism. This can cause hormonal imbalances, muscle loss, and a slowed metabolism, leading to increased stress and frustration.

Surprisingly, it's more harmful to restrict certain foods than to enjoy them in moderation. Food is not just about fueling your body; it's also about pleasure, enjoyment, and creating memories. There's room for you to have fun, celebrate special occasions, and yes, indulge in your favorite treats while still making progress toward your health and fitness goals.

If anyone or any program tells you that you should never enjoy your favorite Halloween candy or treats, my advice is simple: RUN! It's not worth your time, money, or sanity. True progress in your health and fitness journey should not come at the expense of your happiness and satisfaction.

If you're feeling lost on how to optimize your metabolism and body composition while still enjoying the foods you love, I've got a solution for you. Consider taking the first step in your journey by joining the Gray30 program. With Gray30, you'll learn how to:
