Looking for an alternative to coffee?

For me, caffeine use to be something I needed every day just to get out of bed! But, I soon realized the side effects especially as I started to clean up my diet. While there are some antioxidants in coffee, it's also very acidic and can put a lot of stress on the adrenal glands.

If your not sure what the adrenal glands are I suggest doing a little research! The adrenals are two glands that sit right on top of the kidneys and are responsible for taking on stressful situations, flight or fight and cortisol.

On the PH scale, it's actually one of the most acidic things we can consume next to soda pop. The problem with this is that our body is constantly trying to maintain a balanced PH to fight off disease etc. Many studies have found that all cancer patients have one thing in common and that's an acidic body. Now I’m not saying coffee is evil..however, there is such thing as the compound effect so I do recommend keeping coffee to a minimum.

As an alternative, I suggest trying Yerba Mate for the first few days in transition to get your body away from the acidity of coffee but still giving you small amounts of caffeine while you taper. After about a week using Yerba Mate, which has a ton of amazing benefits. I suggest switching over to this new alternative known as Dandelion Coffee or Dandy Blend

Dandelion Coffee has a similar taste to coffee, but it’s less acidic and bitter. It’s also a little bit sweet because of the chicory root! It has a satisfying coffee taste and is herbal so there's not stimulating caffeine and no crash.

The Dandelion Coffee contains probiotics, which can be super helpful for the gut which in return helps with regularity and immune function. It also has antioxidants that stimulate circulation and help reduce inflammation. Dandelion also enhances the body’s detoxifying functions and helps restore normal liver functions!

How to Make It

I like to add a little almond or coconut milk to my Dandelion Blend and then blend it! This creates a nice frothy consistency. Here are the details:

–Boil hot water for your dandelion coffee

–Let steep for 3 minutes

–Add 2 tbsp of almond milk to your blender with your coffee (without the dandelion bag of course!)

–Blend for 30 seconds

–Pour into your favorite mug!

You can also try this iced, which I love! Simply add ice and let chill for 15 minutes in the fridge then blend again.

I’ve been caffeine-free now for about a year. I love how much consistent energy I have. No more crashes…
