The holidays are just around the corner and you’re either totally prepared or procrastinating until the last minute to make arrangements for your guests. And in my case, there is always procrastination! Here are four quick tips to make your Thanksgiving Day tablescape an easy and quick showstopper:
1. Layer Your Table
Make your table dimensional by adding lots of layers. Think table linen, table runner, charger, dinner plate, salad plate. This will add depth and dimension to your table without breaking the budget on décor. Add votive candles and a centerpiece to finish off the layered look.
2. Less is More for This holiday
Yes, I just said less is more. That should excite you! Thanksgiving brings a menagerie of dishes and foods to the table with little room for décor and extra “stuff.” Keep it simple by having one stellar centerpiece and leave plenty of room for all the baked goods!.
3. Family Heirlooms Will Always be on Trend
Thanksgiving is the perfect holiday to showcase your family heirlooms and use grandma’s china or grandpas’ silverware that have been passed down for generations. Vintage is totally in. Take advantage of using these beautiful pieces for the occasion.
4. The Power of Light
Set your table and the ambiance of the evening (or day) with lighting. Place tapered candles and votive candles around your dining table to set the scene. Candles create an environment to enjoy your family, friends and delicious food. If you are worried about blocking the view of your guests, use low votive candles around your table. Lighting is key to a beautiful tablescape.
