Prairiebrooke Arts

The art resource for homes and offices since 1990

Prairiebrooke Art Gallery is celebrating 30 years of connecting beautiful art with Kansas City.  Founded on the belief that quality counts and experience matters, Prairiebrooke delivers top-notch service, competitive pricing and one-of-a-kind artwork. Megan Hoban is the second generation owner of this iconic full service art house located in downtown Overland Park.

“As a family business, I am grateful to be a woman-owned, second generation business owner in our community,” Hoban says. “With our gallery showroom and framing production facility, we continue to grow our footprint as the leading resource for art for residential and commercial projects. We are thankful for the loyal clients, employees and artists who make Prairiebrooke something truly special.”

Peruse their carefully curated collection from local, national and international artists in their expansive gallery showroom.

“We love hearing comments in the gallery that there are so many beautiful options at Prairiebrooke—it’s hard to pick a favorite. Keeping in mind our clients’ tastes, design and years of experience in the art industry is all part of the formula to building our collection. We keep good company! Our clients will see many of our artists as they visit some of the best galleries in beautiful places from Aspen to Santa Fe and Beaver Creek, just to name a few.”

If finding an artistic direction in your home or office seems like a daunting task, leave it up to the professionals at Prairiebrooke to make your space an original.

“In a world full of ‘stuff’ for the home, art is something different. Our goal is to connect clients and art while making the process easy and enjoyable! Just as important as the collection we curate for the gallery is the Prairiebrooke experience. Finding a piece of art you love is one thing, and wondering if it will work in your space is another. After an initial visit to the gallery, our staff will bring artwork to your home to see it in the space and help with placement, custom framing, delivery and installation.”

Artwork is equally as important as the home itself, which is why it’s important to include art in the budget when building or remodeling.

“Art is something that will set your home apart. Don't save it until the end of a project when you are over budget—start with art for key locations where you spend the most time. If you like to entertain, focus on a statement piece for your dining room, kitchen or living room. If you enjoy relaxing after a busy day, some soothing landscapes might be the perfect fit for the bedroom.

“A talented designer once said that mirrors are an easy way out, and something easy to hang on the wall when you can't commit to real art—the same is to be said for buying ready-made art from a big box store. Push yourself to experience the process of discovering fine art. Find a piece of art you connect with and that brings joy to you and your space. Get out there and visit some local galleries—we have some great ones right here in our community.”

Prairiebrooke also believes that custom framing is extremely important in completing and preserving art and should not be overlooked.

“Don't neglect or skimp on custom framing—it’s the jewelry on the artwork. A well-designed frame can take your art to the next level. Support local business by visiting your neighborhood frame shop and work with a skilled craftsman who uses only conservation-grade materials.

“Original art is an addiction. Once you buy your first piece you have started something special. One piece has the ability to elevate a room and instantly bring sophistication to a space.”
