Boosting your Immunity with J's Homemade Elderberry Syrup for Dry January!

We know, this Holiday season has been a rough one. On top of recovering from all those Holiday parties, cold and flu season is also among us in full effect. Whether you are looking to stay healthy, reduce your alcohol intake, boost your immunity or just take a break and reset after all that Holiday booze, we have just the thing for you! Since this issue is dedicated to health and wellness, we decided to partner with J's Homemade Elderberry Syrup to create these delicious mocktails that will not only make you feel your best and give your body the nutrients it needs but delight your taste buds as well! 

J's Homemade Elderberry Syrup is a small family-owned business that uses all-natural organic ingredients and raw Connecticut honey to create their delicious elderberry products that will keep you and your family strong and healthy all season long. It was started by a Kindergarten teacher when she wanted to strengthen her baby's immune system against the germs that she would be exposed to in the classroom. After scouring the shelves at her local health food store, she realized there was nothing on the market that was truly natural without any funky ingredients. She decided to start brewing small batches in her kitchen and once it was shared with friends and family it became an instant hit. Not only is it packed with antioxidants and organic ingredients, but it also has local honey to sweeten the taste which makes it kid-approved! You can enjoy it on its own by taking one tablespoon a day or you can kick it up a notch and try out these recipes we have curated for you.

The Pomegranaberry Punch

Ingredients:

1 oz J's Homemade Elderberry Syrup 

3/4 oz Lime Juice

3/4 oz Pomegranate Juice 

1/4 oz Agave 

2 Egg Whites (whisked)

Pomegranate Seeds for garnish (optional)

makes: 1 serving

prep time: 10 minutes

directions:

Pour all contents into a shaker and give it a good shake. Add ice. Shake again until nice and frothy. Serve and add some pomegranate seeds for garnish.

The Kombucha Cutie

Ingredients:

1.5 oz J's Homemade Elderberry Syrup

3/4 oz Pineapple Juice

1/2 oz Orange Juice 

1/4 oz Apple Cider Vinegar 

3 dashes of Orange Bitters

Top with Ginger Beer or your favorite Kombucha

Orange Peel for garnish (optional)

makes: 1 serving

prep time: 10 minutes

directions:

Add ice to a nice tall glass, Combine J's Homemade Elderberry Syrup, Pineapple Juice, Orange Juice, Apple Cider Vinegar and Bitters into a mixer and give it a mix. Pour into glass. Top it off with ginger beer or kombucha. We decided to go with a ginger pineapple-flavored kombucha. Add orange peel for garnish if you're feeling fancy!

The Sleepy Time Elderberry Turmeric Tea

Ingredients:

2 oz J's Homemade Elderberry Syrup

1/2 oz Honey 

Small spoon full of turmeric/ginger powder 

Top with brewed chamomile tea 

(Serve hot or cold) 

makes: 1 serving

prep time: 10 minutes

directions:

Add J's Elderberry Syrup and turmeric powder or ginger powder to a shaker. Brew chamomile tea and mix honey in. Pour contents from the shaker into a glass. Top it off with tea/honey mixture. Enjoy hot or cold!
