In looking for extra-curricular youth programs that are truly making a difference in South Orlando, we are excited to have met with Amanda Plesa Photnetrakom, who in full glory shared with us all about In Motion Dance Project (IMDP).
- Amanda, tell us about your mission. "We strive to provide quality, age appropriate dance instruction in a positive environment. Our goal is to cultivate young dancers into well-rounded individuals who have not only an appreciation for dance, but who reach for high achievement in both academics and community service. Since our opening 18 years ago, we have personally supported dancers in need by giving over $200,000 in scholarships and assistance to dancers on both our competitive team,The IMDP Company, and our IMDP Studio Program."
- Why choose IMDP? "Every single person who walks through those doors becomes our family. We strive each day to educate dance techniques, how to become good people in society, and to discover who we are. We are dreamers. It’s a safe place for students to come and discover who they want to be. But they will also learn about discipline. They will become well-rounded people, not just dancers."
- You are glowing about a few alumni! Share with us highlights. "Michaela Marfori started in our second year. She was 2. For 16 years, she grew up in our studio. She was cast in the revival of 'West Side Story' at 16. She just debuted in the NYC Metropolitan Opera in November. Sophia Ludwig started with us when she was 8. She has gone on to be an award-winning choreographer.Sophia is currently contracted in Las Vegas for the 'Mystere' show with Cirque du Soleil."

Since 2017, In Motion Dance Project has been able to provide an additional $5,000 in assistance to young dancers, actors, singers, and musicians each year, through their non-profit In Motion Arts Alliance. Amazing job of empowering our youth to spread a positive message through the universal language of performance art!
