Support Local and Treat Yourself

Ways You Can Give In to Rebuilding Local Businesses While Giving Yourself Some Love Too

Over the many weeks of quarantine, a number of small businesses in our area were forced to face lower sales, if any at all, and temporary layoffs. The effects of the pandemic didn’t just stop with the economy, however. Citizens required to stay at home and away from regular, everyday activities and interactions may have experienced increased discomfort mentally, as well as physically. We’ve rounded up a few ways to support local businesses, as well as ourselves, during these uncertain times. It’s important to remember: This too shall pass. We are #SouthDaytonSTRONG!

Eat Clean, to Go

Easing up on the quarantine snacks and (dare we say it) alcohol can help improve your mood and immune system. The concept behind Fresh & Easy Meals, co-owned by South Dayton restaurateur Jon Thomas, is to prepare, portion and deliver healthy, delicious meals to your doorstep in microwavable containers, for quick and easy reheating. Family-style meals are also available.

Book a Time to (Actually) Relax

We’ve all experienced the ups and downs of being stuck at home. It’s been lovely spending extra time reconnecting with our spouses, kids and pets; but it’s normal to have occasionally felt a bit cagey and stressed, being in such close quarters! Escape for just one hour and let the massage therapists and facialists at Hand & Stone work their magic.

Plan to Get Moving

Another downside to all that snacking is weight gain. The “COVID 15” (a play on the 15 pounds gained in quarantine) is a real thing! If you don’t have the motivation to consistently exercise on your own, the professional trainers at SPENGA in Centerville are back to work and would love to help!
