True Sky Credit Union

Excitement Builds as Opening Nears for New Moore Branch

At True Sky Credit Union, you, the customer, are considered a part owner. That means you get a say in what direction True Sky heads, and you get to share in their success in the form of better interest rates, lower fees, and new products and services. They don’t have stakeholders or investors, so they are able to reinvest in programs for membership. Since 2000, they have given back $4.5 million in rebates and interest dividends to members.

True Sky offers all the products and services you would demand from a full-service institution, including auto and home loans, programs to rebuild credit and mobile and online services. True Sky also offers credit cards, better rates and lower fees and higher returns.

True Sky provides members with many perks not offered elsewhere, including complimentary coin redemption, free year-round document shredding and regular member appreciation events. Guests also enjoy wi-fi at branches and QuikBoost charging stations in lobbies. Their annual interest rebate/bonus dividend and True Sky discounts add to the value.

The History of True Sky Credit Union

True Sky was founded in Oklahoma City in 1946, when eight co-workers at the then Civil Aeronautics Administration in Oklahoma formed the CAA Employees Credit Union to help one another with their financial needs. In 2001, they adopted a community charter, opened services to communities in the metro area and become the FAA Credit Union. In 2016, they become True Sky Credit Union, and helped the community understand that their services are available to residents of the metro area.

This month, True Sky will add its ninth branch by expanding into Moore at 4th and Telephone Road. They will be hosting a grand opening from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, with special CD rates, a cash grab machine, kids’ activities and free food. Community members who come to the grand opening also have a chance to crack the safe and possibly win $100,000.

Opening a New Location

Customers and employees are excited to see the Moore branch open. Diane Roberts, who has worked for True Sky in the accounting department for six years and is a resident of Moore, shares, “I’m happy that True Sky will have a presence in Moore. It will be exciting to see our brand in the community. Personally, if I have to run an errand on the weekend, I will be able to quickly go to the Moore branch. The new branch is in a great location and close to the interstate.”

True Sky has several convenient locations in the metro area, including branches in Mustang, Norman, Yukon and Edmond, as well as an office at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center.

True Sky Credit Union: Developing the Community for the Better

Moore branch manager Matt Boutin tells about their involvement in the community. “True Sky recently sponsored the Moore War Run to get the word out about the credit union coming to Moore. We have a number of members who live in the area, and they were excited to hear we will soon be in Moore. As branch manager, I’ve been out and about in the community meeting neighbors and developing relationships. I look forward to serving our membership in Moore and welcoming new members to True Sky Credit Union.”

Mike Shockley, longtime Moore resident and VP of Consumer Lending, adds, “After working at True Sky for 17 years, it is really exciting to see the credit union locate in my community. I’ve watched Moore expand throughout the years and it is great to see True Sky be part of that growth.”

Credit unions exist to serve their members and communities. As a not-for-profit financial institution, True Sky Credit Union offers membership to those in the Oklahoma City metro area. Anyone who lives, works or attends school in one of eight area counties, including Cleveland, is eligible to become a member.

Sean M. Cahill, president and CEO, said she’s excited that a branch is opening in Moore, adding, “It is such a wonderful community, and we are looking forward to serving our members in Moore, as well as being an active member of the community.”
