Veteran restauranteur, Dennis Barbaro, wanted to create a go-to spot for lovers of great wine and food that was both elevated and fun. Inspired by the vineyards of Napa Valley, NAPA Kitchen and Wine does just that, bringing the laid-back vibes of California to Midlothian. From cloth napkins and cork accents incorporated into furniture to a wine wall and barrels from Napa Valley vineyards, NAPA Kitchen and Wine feels like you’ve just stepped into a Napa Valley vineyard oasis.
With their friendly servers dressed in jeans and burlap-colored aprons, NAPA is not the fancy date spot. Instead, it’s the place to enjoy a Wine Dinner on a Monday night. The place to walk up to the wine bar for a tasting, no reservation required. The spot to enjoy the covered patio on a gorgeous afternoon. The place to have a business lunch that caters to each of your colleagues. Above all, it’s the elevated place to gather and celebrate with the great company of friends and family over excellent food and drinks.
NAPA’s culinary team includes former restaurant owners Executive Chef Todd Johnson and Sous Chef Greg Smiley, along with Culinary Director Tyler Barbaro. With scratch-made recipes, the West Coast-driven menu features fresh seafood, sushi, hand-cut steaks, and local produce. Honoring the richness of high-quality, seasonal ingredients is paramount to their work. As Chef Johnson says, “Great food begins with great ingredients.” In addition to lunch and dinner, NAPA offers Brunch on Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Their extensive brunch menu, featuring eggs benedict, chicken and waffles, mochi donuts, and so much more, is a brunch lover’s dream!
NAPA’s wine list boasts hundreds of California selections, as well as popular European and South American varieties. One great way to explore their many choices is to do a wine flight. During this particularly popular option, customers are led by their wine attendant who helps them choose their flight of six wines from NAPA’s rotating tasting menu. Guests are also encouraged to visit the self-serve wine bar. Using a card provided by their wine attendant, guests can taste and retaste to their palate’s delight! In addition to wine, Beverage Director Thomas Cleary has created a suite of craft cocktails that stem from prohibition classics and California favorites. The Cat’s Meow and the Gold Digger are just two of the many specialty cocktails crafted by Thomas.
NAPA hosts monthly Wine Dinners and their Wine Education Series for those who want to expand their knowledge and enjoyment of good wine. During their Wine Dinners, guests are served a multi-course meal with a wine pairing for each course while that night’s speaker educates them on white, red, rosé, and sparkling wines. The Wine Education Series delivers a fun, classroom-style tasting hosted by a certified wine specialist. Each month has a different theme revolving around a select region of the world.
The whole team at NAPA shares a common goal of delivering quality at every level. The staff clearly look forward to coming to work and enjoy being part of this positive, fun-loving, professional team. In fact, much of NAPA’s staff is comprised of original hires from when they opened in Midlothian in January 2022. The management at NAPA believes in hospitality, quality, and taking great care of their people. To that end, NAPA provides its employees with numerous avenues for professional growth and other career opportunities.
Giving back to their local community is first and foremost at NAPA. For every one of their signature T2T Lemon Basil Martini purchased, $1 is donated to Tunnel to Towers Foundation which provides mortgage-free homes to 9/11 Gold Star and fallen first responder families. NAPA also supports local charitable organizations with benefit days and events, where a portion of sales benefits those in need.
“Giving back to our communities has always been a cornerstone to our success and we look forward to expanding our reach as Sedona Taphouse grows, and with our new NAPA Kitchen and Wine concept,” says NAPA CEO and founder, Dennis Barbaro.
