The scent of cakes just out of the oven and freshly brewed coffee greets guests upon entering the unassuming building that is home to Cakepop Heaven. Bright blues, pastel pinks, eye-catching yellows and the cutest icing/topping designs fill the glass display cases.

"Life is short, make it sweet" became the business motto of Nashville native Robin Tickle Stromatt when she opened Cakepop Heaven, a cozy local bakery and coffee shop, last August in Belle Meade.

"I've always been a baker and loved to cook," says the former full-time legal assistant. "People asked me to make them this and that, and one of the most popular items was the cake pops I made. At the same time, I realized cake pops were becoming the new go-to cupcake. More people kept telling me I should open my own bakery."

Then, Robin says God dropped an opportunity in her lap when a mutual friend told her husband, Mark, that he'd like to be a partner in a bakery, should she decide to ever open one.

"I didn't want any regrets in life, so I stepped out in faith, quit my job, and we opened the bakery. Now I'm living my dream," Robin says.

Cakepop Heaven team members specialize in cake pops, pie pops, muffins, cookies and custom cakes. Their desserts are purchased for many types of occasions, including weddings, birthdays, showers, anniversaries, graduations, corporate functions, school events, family reunions, baby gender reveals or other special celebrations.

Each cake pop is hand-rolled, dipped in decadent Ghiradelli chocolate and decorated with swirls, sprinkles or custom toppings, then hand-wrapped and tied with ribbon. The snack on a stick is available in varieties, such as Peanut Butter Passion, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Red Velvet Delight, Carrot Cake Craze, Oreo Cheesecake, Lemon Lovers, Vanilla Ice, Strawberry Swirl, Triple Chocolate and a Gluten-Free Chocolate. Their cake pops can be customized and shaped to match event themes, with stand-up or flat bottoms, and presented from inside special containers.

The pie pops come in apple, peach and cherry. A popular muffin there is blueberry streusel, and Robin says she's likely to bring back last season's popular pumpkin spice flavor muffin with cinnamon chips and a cinnamon glaze. The shop sells gourmet cookies such as white chocolate chip cranberry. Current special treats spotlight Harper’s Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Sammich or Gigi’s Nanner Puddin'.

"We love helping your vision become a long-lasting memory," explains Robin, who led by example when she named her most popular special treat after her granddaughter, Harper.

It helps to be creative when approaching cake pops.

"Anyone can make a cupcake, but not everyone can make a cake pop," she says.

Cakepop Heaven also serves coffee from local roaster Stay Golden, along with espresso, lattes, hot chocolate, iced tea or iced coffee, soda, milk and water.

Robin says she may have underestimated the emotional benefits of seeing the joy customers get from the bakery products and unique gifts created.

"People are so happy, it's literally like they're getting a little piece of heaven. It's an escape for people from everyday life, and these items bring such smiles to faces."

"We're not just a pickup bakery," she reminds. "We're a cozy place to sit, unwind and recharge. We also have an outside patio."

A bonus is that Robin introduced a customer rewards program in observation of her shop's first business anniversary during August. With the upcoming holidays through the end of the year, she reminds to place bakery orders early.

"The scent of bakery or special treat is all we need to rouse our memory of a special moment in our lives. Why not relive these memories daily with a small piece of heaven? Or better yet, why not make memories for someone special in your life that will last a lifetime?" –Robin Tickle Stromatt, owner, Cakepop Heaven
