Putting up holiday decorations is often a beloved family pastime that adults and children alike look forward to. Many traditions from generations before are shared and passed down. But if you’re looking for new ideas or if this is your first year decorating your home, interior designer Ginger Brewton has some simple tricks to make it stress-free and simple.
“I love to gather inspiration from our surroundings and environment,” Ginger says. “It's such a beautiful time of year and so much exterior beauty can be brought inside - leaves, branches, berries.”
Ginger says any type of candle or lighting is a special touch that brings warmth. “Decorating doesn't have to be overdone to be stunning. Sometimes all it takes is adding a wreath around an everyday object to make it more festive.”
Making something personalized is a gift for your guests. “I love the idea of personalized place settings for a holiday dinner that the guest can take home. This is a special takeaway that will always spark a precious memory of family, friends, and togetherness.”
Ginger says the unifying thread is the feeling of love from the little touches that are you. “I tell my clients all the time let's figure out what you love. Not what's trendy or what everyone else is doing but what are the things that bring you joy? That's so important all the time, but we seem to focus on it more especially during the holidays. Decorate with the items, colors, recipes, scents and people that bring you joy. Bring in graduations and recipes from the past and make new memories to carry forward.”
