BODYROK owner Maria Faulkner's daily routine

Maria Faulkner, owner of BODYROK Pilates Studio, at 50 years old is a picture of health. She believes that a consistent routine is key to her success, and with a daughter and granddaughter, it is important for her to have the energy to enjoy life with them. She has given us an inside look at what her day consists of to keep her mind, body, and spirit strong and nourished.

1. I start my day by setting a goal to do 3 things- 1) learn something 2) move my body 3) do something to connect to another person. If I can say I have done all 3, even my toughest days are a win.

2. I think fueling your body properly is an important component that cannot be overlooked. I found that reducing my sugar intake and keeping my protein levels high, which takes some planning and forethought when I travel, helps me avoid big energy swings. I eat almost the exact same breakfast every morning- Greek yogurt with organic berries and Purely Elizabeth nut granola.

3. Pilates is my love, which i what lead me to open BODYROK, but I believe it is important to mix up my exercise routine.

My routine consists of:
    ◦    3-5 days of Pilates/reformer training
    ◦    2-3 days of strength training
    ◦    Walking 10,000 steps per day. I don’t obsess over my steps but I know I feel better on days I move more.

4. I journal at night to reflect on lessons learned or goals met that day, and then meditate right before bed to let go of stress and give my mind the rest it needs. I prioritize sleep and usually get 7-9 hours depending upon my work schedule.

I’m so grateful for the opportunity Pilates has given me to meet so many amazing women who also want to find movement and connection to make their days a little brighter. BODYROK helped me stay consistent longer than I have at any other gym or fitness routine because I love the supportive community.
