Last month, we featured The Country Club of Lexington. Our focus was on what the club had to offer the Midlands, focusing on the newly renovated clubhouse, golf, tennis, swim, and dining options. This month, we want to focus on the professional staff who bring skill and expertise to CCL.
Chris Miller
Head Golf Professional
Chris worked for the SC Golf Association (SCGA) for nearly 20 years, specifically developing the junior golf program throughout the state. In 2007, Chris was recognized as the Carolinas’ PGA Junior Golf Development Leader. He was elected to the PGA in 1997. In 2019, Chris was awarded the Charlie Drawdy Distinguished Service to Golf award (through SCGA). He is a previous winner of the City of Columbia Professional Championship and the SCGA Pro Am. He has been serving as the Head Golf Pro at CCL since Spring of 2019.
Gregg Payne
Assistant Golf Professional
Gregg hails from Europe, where he dominated the sport in his youth and continued to shine into adulthood. He represented England in the Under 16s and Under 18s. He was on the European Boys Team Championship, which consists of the top six players from each country. As an Under 18, he was also on the Home International Winning Team for England, playing against Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. He was a scratch golfer by age 14, and began playing professionally with a +3 handicap. Gregg has multiple Top 5 finishes on PGA EuroPro Tour, and multiple starts on the European Challenger Tour. Gregg moved to the US in 2019 to get married, and join CCL in February 2020.
Dustin Perry
Assistant Golf Professional
Originally from Vermont, Dustin first came to SC in 2015 to attend Coastal Carolina University. Here, he majored in Marketing while specializing in Professional Golf Management (PGM). After graduating and receiving his PGA Class A certification, Dustin returned to Vermont and was an Assistant Golf Professional at Quechee Club. He returned to SC to join the staff at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. CCL was happy to welcome Dustin in February of this year.
Lane Hinson
Director of Tennis
Lane is a PTR certified teaching professional and has a USTA rating of 5.0. He was a highly ranked junior player in SC, and southern level. He still holds the record for most individual single wins from his high school. He attended the University of SC, where he was a men's captain for the Club Team. Lane began teaching at CCL over 3 years ago and the junior and adult programs soar to new heights under his leadership. He has coached in the CTL, JTT, and JTL league organizations, and was the JTL coach of the year in 2013. Lane is also a Co-Founder of the Columbia Pro league.
