New Year, Positive Habits

Positive Pandemic Habits to Carry Into the New Year

1. Tip Generously: The value of delivery services has risen as everyone is ordering more meals, groceries, and Amazon items.  Delivery employees are a new breed of essential workers that are stepping out into the world every day to encounter people and take risks with their own health.  Make sure to keep showing your appreciation for what they are doing by giving generously back to them.

2. Home Exercise: With the shutdown of life, we have had to adapt our normal gym activities.  With lack of equipment or scheduled classes, we have had to be resourceful with using things around our house, discovering online resources, and incorporating the whole family to create our own in-home work out regimes to stay healthy.  It’s a great habit to carry into the new year as it is cheaper, convenient, and still amazingly effective.

3. Rediscovering Old Favorites: Oldies are goodies!  Bringing back the past through movies, tv shows, novels, games, and activities are nostalgic and heart-warming.  Reliving things that you loved and sharing them with your loved ones helps bridge generation gaps and create new priceless memories.

4. Learn Something: It’s always beneficial to keep your brain active! Learning a new language helps you communicate with someone you normally wouldn’t.  Learning a new skill can help you redo or update a part of your house that needs refreshed. Acquiring knowledge builds, helps in everyday life, and shows you what you are capable of (it may even help you win on Jeopardy!).

5. Self-Care: A low stress life is the dream and while at first it was stressful to be forced to slow down, many people discovered this past year that the lack of stressors was beneficial physically, emotionally, & mentally as they had to solely focus on taking care of themselves.  As the world spins full-force into the new year, don’t forget to treat yourself with something that allows you to relax, breathe, and refills your bucket.
