Amber Krug is an animal lover. She grew up with dogs, specifically boxers, who were part of the family. This passion for pets has flourished into a component of her art: photography.
“I am a portrait and lifestyle photographer that offers pet, family, senior, couples, maternity and newborn sessions,” Amber says. “I can’t help but smile every time I see a dog. I love capturing special moments for people to share and reminisce on the memory.”
For pet owners, animals are trusted companions and loyal friends; they bring joy, love and affection to their family. This is the reason Amber feels it is so important to capture them on camera.
“I believe that photographs are very important because they capture a moment in time, freeze it and preserve it forever,” she says. “I delivered a printed canvas of a beloved pet that had passed away, and the family was deeply moved, but also very happy to have the image memorialized. Dogs leave paw prints on our hearts.”
Her work includes more than just dogs. She has also photographed cats, horses and farm animals. While her favorite aspect of pet photography is capturing special moments, as well as meeting many new four-legged friends, Amber’s job poses some unique challenges.
“One of the biggest challenges I face as a pet photographer is getting the pet’s attention…especially in a studio setting because it is a new environment and pets may be hyper or nervous. I always get to know the pet first and interact with them before I start photographing them, and of course, treats always help!”
Amber’s images are natural, vibrant and bright. She aims to provide authentic photographs with natural energy and playful, adventurous connections.
“I want to capture the raw moments, whether it is a milestone in your life or a fun session with your pet.”
