Ready To List Your Home?

Tips to get your home ready to sell

The current trend is light, bright kitchen spaces. There are many simple and inexpensive ways to freshen up the look of your home prior to putting it on the market. Check out these DIY home improvement tips that can help add value and impress potential buyers. Pictured above is one of our custom kitchens in our available new construction listings.

Curb Appeal

- It’s important to give buyers a strong first impression and a sense of comfort as they enter your home. Keep the entrance and walkways clean and consider some flower pots and a simple welcome mat.

- Update your front door with a fresh coat of paint and some new hardware.

- Mow and water the lawn regularly, trim trees and shrubs, clean the gutters, and pressure wash the exterior.

Living Room & Bedrooms

- Organize and declutter your space. Pack away 50% of what’s in your closets. Buyers will open closets to check out storage potential and space sells!

- Give the walls a fresh coat of paint. Light-colored, neutral shades are best. This applies to window treatments as well. If you decide not to paint, use an eraser pad to remove wall scuffs and touch up impurities.

- Clean and shampoo carpets or replace them with budget-friendly wood flooring.

- Make small rooms appear more spacious by limiting furniture to the essentials and avoiding too many accessories. A large mirror and a house plant can easily add a pop of color and visual space.

- Remove valuables and even family photos. This helps give buyers the opportunity to see themselves living there.

- Use an air purifier to help freshen pet and/or other unpleasant odors.

Kitchen

- Consider staining or painting dated cabinets and replace knobs and handles.

- Add or update the backsplash with decorative tiles.

- Remove countertop clutter.

- Install new light fixtures including under cabinet lighting for a great way to brighten up the space.

Bathrooms

- Replace mismatched or dated fixtures.

- Clean any mold or mildew stains and consider applying new caulk.

- Apply some fresh paint with either a satin or semi-gloss finish.

- Hang a new shower curtain and some fresh towels.
