Recycle Your Tech

Renew A Veteran's Life

The lack of a computer and the lack of the skills needed to effectively use that computer are the two most significant barriers many Veterans face when competing in the modern workforce. Tech for Troops (T4T) helps bridge this digital divide! They provide in need Veterans and children of Veterans with affordable refurbished computers and the training needed to use them, all for low or no cost.

This national, non-partisan organization serves both transitioning active duty and veterans, including reserve, guard, and auxiliary service members.

So keep your old computers, tablets, cell phones, and other electronic equipment out of landfills and, instead, use them to improve the lives of Veterans! Monetary donations are always welcome as well. For a complete list of accepted donation items or for information on volunteer opportunities, go to: techfortroops.org.

A message from Mark Casper, Marine Corps Veteran and President/CEO of Tech For Troops: “Please help us eradicate homelessness and poverty among Veterans and transitioning active-duty military personnel by providing financial and equipment support for our fellow Americans who are in need with the technology, career skills, and life skills needed to join the civilian workforce and provide for their families successfully.”

Serving Veterans

T4T empowers in-need Veterans and their families through sustainable, lifelong skills backed by training, education, and technology.

Supporting Families

Children of in-need Veterans in grades k-12 are also eligible to receive affordable computers through T4T. Not only does this support their academic career, but it also benefits their social and emotional wellbeing by giving them technology access equitable to that available to their peers.

Enriching Communities

T4T proactively reached out to and supported kids during the opening months of COVID, donating almost 200 computers to school-age children. To date, T4T has recycled over 600+ tons of equipment (e-waste) to keep it out of local landfills and has distributed quality, refurbished computers to Veterans across the country. They also guarantee data destruction – 100% wiped or shredded – to guarantee your personal and professional data will not "get out."

Special Events

T4T holds annual fundraising, training, and community awareness events, such as their upcoming Golf Tournament on November 14th. Their always popular Cyber Security Capture the Flag event for students and professionals will take place in January 2023. T4T also participates in virtual and in-person events and speaking engagements with other nonprofits and organizations to get the word out about the valuable work they provide to our local communities.

Donate

T4T depends on grants and individual contributions to provide services to Homeless and Low-Income Veterans and their families. Each monetary and property contribution to T4T is tax deductible. Donations may be made online or in person.

Volunteer

T4T offers volunteer opportunities for both individuals and corporations. Their most prominent group was composed of 48 1st Lieutenants in training at Fort Lee. They also have volunteers and corporations that help out with T4T events across the wider RVA community. In a normal year, T4T hosts over 200 volunteers!

T4T also offers Veterans partnership opportunities with businesses that provide training and networking experiences.
