SC: What comforting words can you share with homeowners who might be looking to stage and sell?
CM: Immediately upon entering a new staging, I connect with the sellers. I want to assure them that we are all here for the same reason, getting their house sold. Selling a home is a very personal and sometimes difficult decision. I want them to know right from the start that I am empathetic to their situation and goals. A staging can take anywhere from 2-5 hours. I walk the house with the client and realtor and make suggestions and I also offer to do the work while I’m there. We may move furniture around, style bookcases, and edit as we go.
SC: Interior Redesign is a “using what you have” approach to decorating. I love this!
CM: Interior Redesign is an easy, affordable way to get a fresh, new look by shopping the home and using what they already own - moving furniture and accessories around a room. I shop the house for pieces I can bring into the room. It’s amazing what you can find in someone’s home that they forgot they even had. Interior design may involve purchasing new furniture and accessories and that can get costly.
SC: What are this year’s trendy colors and how do you help your clients find their palate?
CM: I have a list of colors that I pull from, from cool whites to warm neutrals. This last year has been difficult for everyone and the colors for 2021 recognize this. The colors are warm and enveloping bringing about a cozy feeling. Calming, earthy colors are a trend now as well. People are staying in more and working from home, so they want to bring the outside in. Jewel tones are back too, and I love that!
When helping clients find their palate I ask for a couple of favorite pieces of clothing or pick a particular piece of art. We sit down and talk about their vision for the home, things they love, and what makes them happy. It all comes together after that.
