Tucked away on a private two-acre lot at the end of a cul-de-sac, marked by stately brick pillars, is a lovely brick Georgian home that is synonymous with style in the Village of Long Grove.

The grounds, carefully nurtured by homeowners Susan and Nick Fasano, are stunning. Rose bushes grace the front and perennial gardens are located all around the property with a nature path and woodland area tucked into the woods. A gorgeous deck and adjoining screened porch overlook the back yard, with a full sized, heated in-ground pool. Over the years, the Fasanos regularly poured a full-sized hockey rink in the back yard for the entertainment of family and friends. The entrance to a finished walk-out basement overlooks a level yard backing to 25+ acres of conservancy, maximizing outdoor living and boasting premium views. There’s a full bath, pool changing room, bedroom, fireplace and home theater, and, of course, a room dedicated to hockey.

“We built this house 20 years ago,” says Susan. “Back then with three young sons we were drawn to Long Grove for the schools, open space and that this lot gave us lots of space to add a pool for the summer and an ice rink in winter. We always wanted our home to be the local hangout for our sons and their friends.”

The formal spaces are spectacular in this home, boasting an elegant two-story foyer with travertine floors, plus detailed moldings in the spacious living and dining rooms. A grand staircase has dual access from the foyer or kitchen. The home offers an easy entertaining flow with the large eat-in kitchen and a two-level pantry, high-end appliances, cherry cabinets, and is completely open to the family room where the floor-to-ceiling river rock fireplace is the main focus. Walls of windows overlook deck and yard. A screened porch, wet bar area, craft room and office complete the first floor.

The master suite is spacious and romantic featuring a tray ceiling, gas fireplace, wonderful spa bath, exercise or sitting room, plus tons of closet space. Four additional bedrooms are located on this level, each one directly connected to a full bath.

There are so many amenities in this home—the gleaming hardwood floors, fresh neutral paint colors, stylish light fixtures, and an oversized, heated four-car garage, to name a few. Students in this neighborhood attend Country Meadows elementary and Woodlawn Middle schools, located less than a mile from the home. High schoolers attend renowned Adlai Stevenson, one of the best in the nation.

“We really hope another young family comes in after us,” says Susan. “It’s in a beautiful neighborhood with a backyard that provides a wonderful natural retreat.

“Leaving this home is bittersweet. In some ways we don’t want to go, but it’s time for us to downsize and move on to another chapter in our lives.”

This home is now available for $1.1 million at 6231 Pine Tree Court in sought-after Highland Pines of Long Grove. Schedule a showing with @Properties broker Renee Clark or Sheryl Graff by calling 847.612.0027 or email renee@reneeclarkhomes.com.
