Style at Home

From Sharks to Homes

John Stokes got his start in construction by teaching himself how to build cedar fences. “It was interesting at times; we didn’t have YouTube back then.” As the years unfolded, fencing grew into landscaping, then remodels, then custom home building. Over the last 30 years, there isn’t a facet of residential construction John hasn’t had his hands on. Today High Valley consists of three divisions; residential & commercial roofing, restoration remodel, and conventional exterior restoration. “It may sound like a lot, but we run a manageable operation and we always keep it local.”

Nestled at the bottom of the Colorado National Monument in the Redlands of Grand Junction, you will find the Homestead at High Valley and the office of High Valley Enterprises. High Valley was founded by John Stokes who wanted to create a trusted company homeowners could confide in and lean on for all of their projects and creative visions. From roofing to gutters, exterior renovations to interior remodels, High Valley Enterprises was developed with quality, creativity, and Homeowner advocacy in mind.

John raised his children here in the Grand Valley; three Fruita Monument Wildcats and a couple of CMU Mavericks as well. His son, Christian went into construction engineering and little sister Lauren is hot on Dad’s heels as an up-and-coming entrepreneur (when she isn’t busy shaving time from her barrel-racing clock at Rimrock Rodeo, that is). Work/Life Balance is always in the forefront of John’s mind and this standard carries through with all those who work for him.

You may remember the story of John’s involvement in shark conservation as well from our April 2022 issue. Read it any time on page 12 of that issue: April 2022, Shark Conservation.

The photos shown with this article feature a recent custom bath remodel that showcases the style, quality and aesthetic appeal John’s customers have come to trust.

When the team isn’t hard at work advocating for homeowners and fixing their homes, you can find them at their Treehouse Office Headquarters located at 2042 F 3/4 road, The Homestead at High Valley. As the original homestead in the Redlands built in 1953, this property is now the ideal venue for parties and special events, available soon to rent on VRBO, and a place to be among the horses, goats, chickens, rabbits, and turtles. “The quality of life for the employees at High Valley Enterprises is really important to me, and we love to have clients over to sign contracts and hang out,” said John.

John maintains an open-door policy and invites you to check out the Homestead venue. Contact John and his team at (970) 812-2222 to schedule a tour.
