Get in Your Outdoor Yoga, Runs, Obstacle Courses and More

Summer is coming to an end, but before you trade in the BBQ for a pumpkin spice, grab a yoga mat, running shoes or your favorite workout buddy and get active at these outdoor fitness activities.

Yoga in the Market Park (River Market) 

Sundays, 9 a.m., City Market Park (River Market)

Start your Sunday off right with some yoga in the Market Park followed by a stroll around the ultimate farmer’s market in Kansas City. If you’re feeling extra active, finish your morning workout with a run along the river or jog with your dog over to Bar-K for some fun!

Sunday Yoga at Chicken N Pickle

Sundays, 9 a.m. at Chicken N Pickle

Roll out your yoga mat and “namaste” a while. Afterward you can trade in that mat for a racket and maybe even a hot chicken sandwich. You know you want to. This is a free event but make sure to sign up to secure your spot.

Yoga with the Penguins

Wednesday, September 18, 6:45 p.m. – 8 p.m., the Kansas City Zoo

Before you get too excited, this event is currently sold out. However, not all hope is lost! You can head to their Facebook page and check on individual ticket sales because this event is just too cute to pass up!

Yoga on the Lawn

Wednesdays, 7:30 p.m., at Ward Parkway Restaurant Pavilion

Need a midweek pick-me-up? Genesis has got you covered with free yoga on the lawn and half-off a cocktail at Smitty’s Garage. Plus you can easily complete your weekly (or daily) Target and Trader Joes run while you’re there.  

Rooftop Silent Disco Yoga 

Thursday, September 19, 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., On Broadway: A Rooftop Event Space

Sacred Steps 5k Walk/Run

Saturday, September 21, 8 a.m. - 10 a.m., The Church of the Resurrection Leawood, Kan. 

Grab your family, friends, and neighbors and head out to Leawood for the Sacred Steps 5K. This walk/run is perfect for all ability levels and benefits the missions initiatives in Africa for clean water, training and community health.

 Family Timber Challenge Obstacle Course

Sunday, September 22, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m., Bonner Springs, Kan. 

Take family bonding to the next level with this challenge obstacle course! Prepare to have fun and get messy! Tickets range from $36 to $41.

St. Jude Walk/Run Kansas City

Saturday, September 28, 8 a.m. - 11 a.m.,  KC Live! At Power and Light, Kansas City, Mo.

This is an event that is near and dear to many hearts. Support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by participating in this walk. Afterward, grab some food in KC Live! Power and Light or hop on the street car to explore downtown!
