The Art of Finding the Frame that Fits

Artistic Eyewear Invites You to Browse the Racks of Fabulous Frames

Artistic Eyewear, the boutique frame and lens shop, blends neatly into the row of buildings lining the east side of North High Street between Prescott Alley and Chestnut Street. Its white brick exterior and deep-red canopied door and shutters are distinctive yet subdued in keeping with the style of its neighbors.

A first-time patron looking for "127" from across the street scanned the row twice before spotting a young man in khakis and a dark shirt standing on the sidewalk holding up a pedestal-style mirror while a dark-haired woman facing him leaned forward looking intently into it. When the first-time visitor saw the woman lean back and start taking off the frames she was wearing, the light dawned: There’s Artistic Eyewear.

The scene is indicative of the incomparable, low-key customer care found at Artistic Eyewear. The team of welcoming, knowledgeable and laidback staff members are highly-skilled when it comes to “fitting the frame to the face and the face to the frame.” Owner Robert Layman credits his staff for the great customer service, but the truth is it starts with him.

The family-owned company was started in Israel more than 30 years ago and continues today in Eilat, Israel. In 1998, the first of its three Pennsylvania locations opened its doors in Doylestown. The West Chester shop started in 2013, followed by the Chestnut Hill location in 2018.

As with each of the stores, the shop on North High Street has the feel of a gallery with bright, original art, while natural light and trendy music create an inviting shopping experience. The company offers a look and a price to fit the budget of all who walk through the door. Their collection includes designer brands such as Oliver Peoples, Alain Mikli, Andy Wolf, Paul Smith, Ray-Ban Sunglasses and an array of boutique eyewear from around the globe.

Artistic Eyewear offers the best lenses with the latest technology to enhance your overall experience. They offer the most advanced technological lens solution available to the marketplace at any given time, deliver unparalleled customer service and provide a wide range of frames in various materials

Convenience is paramount as well. Lenses are edged on-site to expedite delivery, using Autograph series by Shamir—considered the "holy grail" of all lenses. It is available in customized, variable and fixed fitting heights and takes into consideration the position of the patient’s frame and lenses as they are worn on your face. Shamir is an Israel-based company, which is engaged in the development, design and manufacture of premium progressive lenses for the ophthalmic industry.

When you decide on the frame that fits your needs and personality, the staff is ready to take specific measurements in order to provide the best optics. In order to provide you with a fully personalized lens, it is important to understand that the frame will have some panoramic angle, and the lenses will be tilted due to the frame and how the frame sits on the face. The staff takes great care in making sure the lenses and the measurements of them satisfy every customer. In the rare case that they need to be adjusted, they do this free of charge. Again, customer satisfaction with the optics and frame choice is their top priority.
