For those agave aficionados, bon vivants of bourbon, and other savants of spirits with a more discerning palette when selecting what to imbibe, Carlos Benavidez invites you to his library of libations The Art of Liquor. His expertise is in the procurement of unique high-end spirits which you will not find in your local liquor store. “I named my place The Art of Liquor because, like artists and sculptors, brewers and distillers make art as well in the form of distinct liquors and I display those flavors.”

Much like art, the value in each bottle is unique to the individual experiencing it based on their senses, emotions, and memories. Carlos appreciates that his customers often have a story associated with a particular label. He has heard many stories of people scouring shelves looking for a brand they had years ago and have not been able to find since. Some stories are more heartfelt, “[a] gentleman came in one day and told me he wanted a good brand to have for his son returning home from military duty. They were going to open it together and he mentions Antique Weller 104 a rare bottle which I happened to have. It felt good being able to provide that moment between a father and son.” In the end the art is in the story and Carlos shares two recipes to help you with yours.
