Opening a bottle of wine at any meal is reason enough to celebrate, especially if it helps to enhance the meal. With so many flavors mingling at the Thanksgiving table, making the right wine selection can be challenging. We turned to some local experts to help us through the process.

Varnier-Fanniere “Esprit de Craie” Extra Brut N.V. $66.99

This 100 percent chardonnay with notes of citrus fruits, green apple, and brioche, goes lovely with turkey meat. A focused and linear Champagne, conducive to celebratory events.

Champagne Bertrand-Delespierre “Saignee des Terres Amoureuses” Premier Cru Millesime 2014 $76.99

A dark-colored rose Champagne made from 100 percent pinot noir with very unami characteristics that lends itself to the wide array of dishes at a Thanksgiving table: cranberry, sweet potatoes, ham, and certainly as an aperitif with smoked salmon, cheeses and tomato tart!

Guy Allion ‘Les Mazelles’ Sauvignon Blanc Touraine, France  Under $20 

This crisp, clean, minerally sauvignon blanc appeals to nearly all palates and pairs perfectly with a wide range of foods. Flavors of gooseberry and grapefruit with a hint of asparagus, and a zesty and tart finish.

Crafted from old vines, this 100 percent gamay from Beaujolais is known for its aging potential. It boasts a generous body, a robust tannin profile and rich, dark fruit flavors. 

Domaine Jean Fournier Bourgogne Côte d'Or 2021 Around $32

From one of oldest estates in Marsannay, Burgundy this wine presents vibrant raspberry, cherry, and alpine strawberry flavors, accompanied by a velvety texture and an extended, delicate finish.
