When she was 21 years old, Sarah McAllister began her professional life as a chiropractor. Later, she would train to become a massage therapist and esthetician who would launch a day spa and salon in South Carolina. A decade ago, Sarah opened a second location, Syeni—derived from the Turkish word for “new”—in downtown Apex’s Tobacco and Mule Exchange building.

Sarah takes pride in treating her clients like family. At Syeni, she and her colleagues use a completely holistic approach. They offer an array of services including massage, hair, skin care, eyelash extensions and more. In addition, a vintage-style barbershop for guys and herbal market and tea bar are included. Everyone is welcome─women, men and kids. According to Sarah, Syeni is unique and stands out from other area spas because they’re a one-stop health and beauty shop.

Also located within the spa is The Fabulash Bar owned by Erin Tracey. Sarah muses that women leave feeling empowered after spending several hours with Erin. She says that the recent focus on lashes and brows is not a trend, but rather a beauty mainstay thanks to growth in the industry’s technology.

“Beauty comes from the inside, as well as the outside," Sarah says. "When we feel good and look good, we have a positive outlook on life and are much happier. We must have a healthy lifestyle first, live simply and take care of our well-being. Beauty ‘starts at the root,’ and we want to carry that over to our clients.”
