Husband and wife team, Nicholas and Miriam Peters, opened Peters Custom Homes seven years ago and it has quickly become the largest luxury home builder in North Carolina. “We opened up the company with a few simple principles: full transparency, building a product that the clients want, and treating clients with respect,” says Nicholas. “We want people to know that there are still ethical people in construction. Miriam and I are very much hands-on because it’s our names on the builds. I review all my job sites twice a week and no designs leave her design team without hitting her desk first.”
PCH guides clients through the entire process from land purchasing to architectural design and building, to finishing with final touches of furniture, hardware, and appliances. The team ensures that clients end up with a home built especially for them, in the style they want. “Our designs really depend on the client and what they are looking for aesthetically,” says Miriam. “We have some clients who want a home that is super contemporary and others who want very traditional, so we're able to adapt to whatever style the client desires.” Additionally, being the only builder with its own brick-and-mortar retail store, Emerald and Oak Design Studio, provides a distinct advantage for their clients.
This upcoming year, PCH will have three areas of focus. “First, we will continue to build full custom homes we’ve always done,” explains Nicholas. “The second is one that Miriam wants to introduce, which are pre-designed custom homes in standard packages that she and her team put together. With those, the client can specify the style of house they want and have options to choose from, but if they just want something that’s already put together, that’s available too. Lastly, we will be doing spec homes still designed by Miriam, but built and ready for buyers.”
The South Charlotte City Lifestyle team toured PCH’s recently completed model home in Highland Forest. A true showcase of their talent, this gorgeous home encompasses fourteen thousand heated square feet of decadence and luxury designed from start to finish by Nicolas and Miriam. The home not only reflects their idea of a true dream home but serves an example for clients of the many different elements that can be incorporated into their own custom home. From the six fireplaces, warm hardwood floors, and seamless transitions, each room, accent, and detail create an awe-inspiring ambiance. No space is too large or too small to be utilized intentionally to provide comfort and convenience.
Throughout the home, cutting-edge technology is incorporated in each area, making this home energy efficient and a one hundred percent smart home with details such as lighting, audio/visual, shades, and temperature easily controlled through a simple app.
Walking in on the main floor, guests are welcomed into a space perfect for sharing intimate moments and large gatherings. A large open kitchen, a scullery, and a coffee bar make entertaining guests easy and convenient. Each of these spaces is beautifully designed to be highly functioning and elegant, including the use of a specialty built-in refrigerator/freezer, custom cabinetry, and built-in marble shelves. Separating the two formal sitting areas, lighted wine racks add to the elegant ambiance and hold any special collections not tucked away in the home’s specially appointed wine cellar.
The primary suite incorporates exquisite details to ensure a perfect beginning and end to each day. Customized his-and-her closets provide a massive amount of aesthetically pleasing storage options. The spa-like bathroom takes sharing space in the morning to a new level with his and her toilet rooms and vanities, a zero-entry shower with speakers, and heated tile floors.
Upstairs boasts four additional bedrooms, an upstairs laundry, and ample temperature-controlled storage while the lower level of the home serves as the ultimate indoor playground for adults and kids. With a commercial grade two-lane bowling alley, soundproof theatre, and game area, a fun night at home is simply steps, or an elevator ride, away. Self-care amenities such as a full massage treatment room, gym with cork floor, and indoor hot tub and sauna make winding down from a stressful week easy and convenient.
Using space intentionally and beautifully provides a seamless transition outdoors to an outside living area that includes two kitchens, an infinity swimming pool, and plenty of space for relaxing or socializing. Truly, no space or room was overlooked in planning this beautiful custom home.
