Valentine's Day Dinner At Home

Si5ters Shrimp and Grits

This shrimp & grits recipe will wow your sweetie, just as it has wowed self-taught chef & creator Andrea Watson's family, time & again (IG @Si5ters904). 

Serves: 7-8

Prep: 30-35 min


Grits (5 lb Bag)

2 lbs Shrimp (Peeled/de-veined)

8 Slices Pepper Jack Cheese

8 Slices Thick Cut Bacon (Diced)

1/2 lb Mushrooms

Green Onions (1 Small Bunch, Chopped)

2 tsp Minced Garlic

1 Medium Tomato (Diced)

3 tbsp Butter

1/2 cup Milk (optional)

1/2 tsp Salt

1/4 tsp Black Pepper

1/2 tsp Cayenne Pepper


1. Cook grits according to directions for 8 servings (any brand grits).

2. Meanwhile, over medium heat, pan fry bacon until crispy. Drain bacon on paper towel. Keep the rendered fat in the pan. 

3. Add butter to the pan of bacon fat, stir until melted. Add garlic & cook 3-4 min. Set aside (some sauce may be used to garnish at the end).

4. The grits should now be done (optional: add milk to achieve preferred consistency). Stir in cheese until creamy & smooth. Add tomato, reduce temperature to low.

5. Put garlic back on low heat, add your mushrooms & cook until tender. Add seasonings. Stir until everything is evenly coated.

6. Add the shrimp to skillet. Cook 2-3 minutes. 

7. Add most of your green onions (leave some for garnish) & bacon crumbles. Give it a final stir.

8. Plate grits, top with shrimp mixture & garnish with extra green onions & garlic butter sauce (optional). Serve.
