SGC: As a locally owned and operated company backed by a national brand, you have established national relationships with preferred material vendors and utilize a Job Process Methodology that ensures every new structure is built well. Your business plan is solid. Congratulations, Helen! How did you land in the Perimeter area?
Helen Parks: My husband and business partner Wayne and I have three girls, two here in Georgia and one in St. Louis, Missouri. We have three grandsons and another due in September. In January 2020, my husband and I decided that we wanted to be closer to our grandchildren, so we made the move from Kansas City, Kansas here to Roswell. We moved down here in September with our two dogs Gunner, a border collie, and Scout, a bichon.
SGC: At Archadeck Outdoor Living, your motto is, "If you dream it, we can build it." Your company can build and design outdoor living spaces of all sizes and varieties. How did you align with Archadeck when you were looking for business partners?
Helen: We chose Archadeck because of the family feel of the business. We live in the Roswell area - which allows us to be within twenty minutes of our grandsons. It's great to work and live in the same community.
SGC: This month in Perimeter Lifestyle, we are honoring women. What nuggets did your mother give you?
Helen: My mother taught me to have faith in the Lord and family should be a priority. My father was in the Army. So, growing up, family included more than just brothers, sisters, uncles, and aunts. It included those close friends who are just like family. For Wayne and me, our family included the friends we met along the way while Wayne served 27 years in the Army.
Speaking of family friends, we'll be spending a portion of Mother's Day weekend at a family friend's wedding. It will be great to get together with old Army friends that we've known for more than 36 years. I am sure I will be spending a little bit of Mother's Day with the girls here in Georgia and my daughter in St. Louis via Facetime.
On my days off I like working in the yard, playing with my grandsons, or spending time with friends.
