“I’m not just a realtor. I have a responsibility to use what I do for a living to help others,” shares Nancy Powell, Broker and CEO of Powell & Associates. “People are selling and buying for different reasons, and I purpose to be sensitive to that and adjust how I handle everything based on each circumstance.”
At age 18, Nancy began her real estate career when she joined Powell & Associates, a Lincolnton-based real estate brokerage firm founded by her mother, Marcene Powell. During her years in Lincolnton, Nancy was the President of the Chamber of Commerce, member of the Historic Preservation Board, President of the Classic South Board of Realtors, and State Director with the Georgia Association of Realtors.
Since then, Nancy earned degrees from Augusta University in history and political science, then stepped into politics for seven years, running local and regional political campaigns, before following her passion and returning to real estate full time.
Recently, Nancy took over Powell & Associates and brought it to Augusta. “I decided to relocate the home base of Powell & Associates to Augusta because there is so much opportunity, room for growth, and hope sitting here waiting to be developed and expounded upon.”
“Augusta has everything and a place for everybody,” says Nancy. “It brings quaint southern charm and mixes it with a downtown urban culture that is just unique to Augusta.”
She adds, “The people that make up Augusta have character; they care about others, and it’s really just like a small town. I like to be in a city with so much diversity, getting to work with people from other countries and other states. I love to learn about people’s stories and how they got to Augusta.”
Not only is Nancy learning about her clients, but she’s also getting to know her neighbors. As residents of beautiful Milledge Road in Summerville, Nancy and her husband, Chris Etterlee, actively invest in the community. She’s an ambassador on the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce, board member of Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Committee, and Vice President for Augusta University Alumni Summerville Society.
