Take It Outside

Get Out To Go Within

Nature offers a space for healthy release and exploration. It contributes to body, mind, spirit healing and well-being. When communing with nature you invite peace, calm, and a sense of interconnectedness.

If all you can do is open a window or step out on a balcony, start there. If you can sit in a backyard, on a park bench, or along a trail, that’s great too. Open your eyes to your local environment. What’s available in your community?

Get present. Listen to the birds. Feel the sun, breeze, or even rain on your face.  When we immerse ourselves in natural elements, we feed our neural networks in ways that current science cannot fully explain, yet can clearly recognize as important for reducing feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression.

Take it all in. Breathe deep, relax the mind, and let go for however long you like.  Feel your spirit recharge, your muscles relax, and your heart fill up.

Still not sure how to get started? Choose a spot and lay out a picnic blanket with some snacks. Sit quietly, simply noticing the beauty around you. You can even offer thanks and gratitude for all the sights, sounds, smells, and feels you experience.

As you spend more time in nature, you will expand your awareness and perception of the natural world. You will begin to notice things that you had not previously noticed, and you will feel more at ease within when you return to the everyday of your life.
