May Is For Mental Health

What better time to incorporate more mindfulness, self-care, and balance into your daily rhythm?

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the practice of bringing your attention to the present moment, while cultivating awareness of what is being thought, felt, experienced. By way of curiosity and non-judgment, it becomes a way of practicing kindness for oneself and others. Through presence, we calm the effects of stress and anxiety.

What is Self-Care?

Self-Care involves internal and external practices that bolster wholeness, confidence, and health. It can include anything from speaking kindly to oneself to things like staying hydrated, eating clean foods, taking a walk in nature, taking a relaxing bath, and practicing mindfulness. We don’t have to do all of these things all the time, and yet, the more we prioritize honoring our physical, mental, and spiritual being, the more we are able to recharge and come back to balance.

What is Balance?

Balance has to do with creating homeostasis, a state of stability while adjusting to a constantly changing environment. Sometimes that means we require more of something and other times less. Thus, balance can look different from day to day. It is about remaining fluid, which can mean not taking on more than you can carry and releasing that which no longer serves.

Each of these areas can contribute to a more positive mood and outlook, ultimately contributing to improved mental health. If you could use guidance in creating what’s next, visit RebeccaBoswell.com/Connect.
